To put it simply, laser is artificially focused light of the same wavelength. You will be familiar with laser applications from other fields. When used for different purposes, different wavelengths (nm) and energy strengths (watts) are used. High energy lasers are used in surgeries (eye; spine) and less energy lasers to cure inflammation.
We work with an Opton laser of the company Zimmer. This device can be varied in energy density and can also be used in deeper tissue layers. Two wavelengths with different biological effects are available. The longer wavelength (980 nm) has an analgesic effect, the shorter wavelength (810 nm) stimulates the repair processes of the cells and the microcirculation. Both wavelengths are used simultaneously. The output is 3 - 7 watts.
Laser therapy is a safe procedure used to treat inflamed tissue (muscles, tendons, joints). But also in pain therapy (acupuncture laser), for injuries, poorly healing wounds and ulcers or for inflammatory skin and mucous membrane diseases.
